Otago Student Receives Academic Prize 
Kate Woods, student at the University of Otago, Faculty of Law was presented with the inaugural SOLGM / Local Government Careers Prize for Excellence, after gaining top place in the Environmental Law paper, taught by Nicola Wheen (senior lecturer).
The award, including a cheque for $1500, was presented to Kate by Athol Stephens, SOLGM Vice President on 21 August at University of Otago, Dunedin.
The Local Government Careers Prize for Excellence is an initiative under the the Recruitment & Retention programme aimed at building relationship among tertiary providers and generating awareness among students about careers in local government.
The Academic Prize is allocated across eight universities and so far we have given prizes in three universities: University of Otago (Environmental Law), AUT (Iwi Resource Management), and University of Auckland (Civil Engineering Paper).
